Collection: Lindsay Johnson

Working across different mediums, Lindsay Johnson is a mixed media artist deeply invested in how to capture the delicacy, strength, and fluidity of the human experience. Questions that drive her work: What environments and experiences bring us relief and joy? What holds us back? How do we break through and thrive?

Johnson has exhibited in galleries, museums, and festivals throughout the United States, including Reece Museum (Tennessee), Swope Art Museum (Indiana), Griffin Museum of Science and Industry (Chicago), and the Terrain Biennial. Her art can be found in numerous private and public collections, including The University of Illinois Springfield.

Johnson earned her BFA in Visual Communication from The University of Kansas and an MAT and MEd from National-Louis University. She is a contributing author to "An Artist and a Mother," a book of visual artworks and essays that speak to the diverse ways artists balance creative life with the demands of mothering. Johnson lives just outside Chicago where she currently teaches art at the middle school level and serves on the Teacher Advisory Council for the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago.
